Specular Blue is an immersive exploration of depth, luminosity, and the profound beauty found in structure. Created by Cape Town fine artist Daria Baluta, this contemporary geometric abstract artwork serves as a visual meditation on the themes of repetition and discipline in our daily lives.

At the core of the composition is the symbol of the circle. Each individual shape represents a single day — simple, singular, and understated on its own. Through a meticulous, disciplined process, these free-hand painted blue circular forms are suspended within successive, glass-like layers of optical resin. As these translucent layers build upon one another, they mirror the way a life is constructed over time. The quiet monotony of daily routines transforms into a complex, interconnected narrative of depth and history.

The artwork transcends its static form by interacting directly with its environment. Its flawless, highly reflective surface catches and shifts the ambient room light as the viewer moves. This creates a mesmerising illusion of three-dimensional suspension, where the overlapping days appear to float dynamically. Specular Blue is a powerful testament to the cumulative weight of consistency, proving that the ultimate masterpiece of life is built quietly, layer by layer.
